You already eat it (and love it).
If you have never tried eating a wholly plant-based food, you are in for a surprising treat. Many people have preconceived notions about the word “vegan,” believing the food will not be as tasty, interesting, and nutritious as the food we are accustomed to in modern life. In actuality, most of us already eat and love many veggie based dishes, for omnivores eat everything, including vegan food.
The most important thing you will need is an open mind. Rid yourself of any beliefs you may have about what you think plant-based food is like, and find an appealing plant-based restaurant or dish to make. For ideas on delicious vegan meals, check out my Collection of best plant-based / vegan recipes.
Also important, make sure to be hungry, If you have a full stomach, you will not be able to appreciate any food. Not even those you already know and like will taste as good if you are not hungry.
Finally, try a variety of foods before writing off
Even if you don’t want to be entirely vegan, you and the planet, not to mention the animals, will benefit from eating plant-based food.
Depending on where you live, you are likely to have veg or veg-friendly places in your area. If you are trying out this lifestyle, ideally, you would start with a fully vegan place first. This way, if it’s a restaurant, you can choose anything you like without having to ask questions.
Fully vegan health food stores are still quite rare, but you can identify products easily if you know how; if not, read “How to read a food label” [insert link]
